why, is there something else I should be worried about?
I spent an hour this morning Googling everything in my makeup bag to make sure that it was all non comedogenic; the dermatologist gave me a Strict Talking To the other day about how important that was. You know right before he shot me in the face with liquid nitrogen.
(Aside: Prescriptives Camouflage Cream is the BOMB — total coverage, or at least enough that no one has said OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED?!? And yes, I totally went for the concealer yesterday because I am shallow. Get over it.)
So I’ve been using Clinique’s Super CityBlock (SPF 40!) for years; it has a nice light (slightly reflective) tint that stands in for foundation. Unfortunately, it appears that perhaps THIS is what is exacerbating my acne.
Good to know!
I dug around in my Free Samples Cabinet (yes, I have a Free Samples Cabinet, don’t you?) and found some Aveeno sunscreen that was CLEARLY labeled “non comedogenic” and put that on. But I’m feeling pretty eh about it (not tinted! just plain! not helping!). So now I’m all obsessed with finding a non comedogenic tinted sunscreen.
God my life is hard.
Also: I realized today that I really REALLY need a haircut, or at least a bang trim, but there’s no time this week. Fortunately, HeatherB is coming for the weekend, and I’m thinking I can get her to cut it (shh don’t tell her, you might scare her). I think she could do it, I really do.
We’ll take pictures, I promise.
And one more also! Keeping the whoa-I-am-shallow vibe going this week is this: I’ve been road testing shapewear (you know, SPANX!) which involves wearing the damn things ALL DAY. All of you all who are hooked on Mad Men? You do NOT want to be wearing what those girls were wearing. Spanx is a HUGE improvement over a girdle, but it’s still not for everday wear.
And last but not least is THIS: in a Super Secret BlogHer project (that you will find out about on Monday anyway) I’ve been shopping with local OKC bloggers. Like GOING SHOPPING! For fun stuff! And having someone else pay for it all! And I am torn between LOVING my job (shopping! with someone else’s money!) and thinking that Clinton and Stacey work really REALLY hard.
And now I have to go put some lipstick on a pit bull, or something like that.
(Book signing! Saturday! 11:15 at The Full Circle! Please come — I’ll show you my shoes …)

If you don’t have a samples cabinet, I do not want to be friends with you. That is all.
(how far is OKC from Tulsa? Out of curiosity?)

I so wish I was still in OKC… I’d totally come to the signing. Hmmm, wonder if my mom would go for me?

Wait, I just realized I said I wished I still was in OKC. Now that must just mean I’m tired. Not that I wouldn’t love to meet you, just sayin’.

Here’s a story for you, actually two: Once I cut my own bangs. It took me a decade to grow them out. Another time I decided to remove my widow’s peak by using Nair. So I had to cut even more bangs to cover up the huge chunk of hair missing from my head.
BUT! I haven’t been to a salon in almost two years. I trim my own hair now. So don’t be too scared. BWAHAHAHA.

You know, Poppy mixes her moisturizer with some foundation, thereby tinting it. I’ve seen her do it and it might work for you until you find one you like.

What? City Block can’t be bad! I’m the City Block Nazi! Please tell me where you found that devastating piece of info … and what you find to replace it. I’m in.
And a little nugget of info that will make you drool … in my pre-SAHM days, I worked for Clinique for eighty-one zillion years and was in charge of the entire global gift with purchase development. Yep, if it was tiny, it was mine.

If you are doing research on Spanx….they make my skin itch so bad, I can’t keep them on more than 5 minutes.
I’m not scheduled to work, but I’ll see you at Full Circle on Saturday, and I’ll be sure to have cute shoes on.

If HeatherB comes at you with a bottle of Nair, I say you better duck!

Have you Googled Stila’s tinted moisturizer with SPF? That’s what I use and I lurve it. I have very sensitive skin and it gives me no problems …

I had a question to ask, but am now reeling from HB’s comment about the Nair. Also feeling lightheaded and seeing stars.
Have a great time this weekend. For some reason I was convinced that Whoorl was going to be in town too and am sad it won’t be a full reunion in the motherland :(, but know you guys could have fun in a ditch anyway.
(I didn’t mean that literally.)

Once I stopped using Clinique CityBlock, my acne cleared up immediately. In fact, I got rid of all my Clinique products. I was always a sucker for those “Clinique bonus days”…

Two thumbs up for the Aveeno!I love it.
Since your skin sounds like mine, I will also give a nod to Stila tinted moisturizer SPF 15. A little coverage with no breakouts.
After suffering with adult acne (my teenage skin was clear!) I finally made a bunch of adjustments, including: going on the Pill, using Retin A (sporadically–a tube last me 12+ months) and new makeup.
My skin finally looks great, now I need to work on my fat a$$!
Good luck.

A few things:
1) The same woman who invented Spanx also makes “Assets” (the title of which I personally find very funny,) they sell at Target for half the price, but pretty much work exactly the same…I have both Spanx and Assets, and from my experience the Spanx are just a tiny bit thinner. But as I don’t wear translucent or skin-tight pants or dresses, I find the “assets” work just as well for far less money. (And yes, not for every day wear.)
2.) I trimmed my own bangs in a moment of pure desperation Tuesday morning at 6:30 am, before leaving to teach; total disaster…I now look younger than my 7th grade students.
3.) If ever you would like to visit your old stomping ground and visit Gig Harbor for the weekend, I would love to have you shop for me with my money. Many in my circle have already threatened to submit me to “What not to Wear,” which I find rude.

Chanel precision hydramax tinted moisturizer is awesome. I will cry big fat tears if they ever discontinue it. I don’t know if it’s non-comedogenic, but City Block made me break out and the Chanel doesn’t - does that help?

Your shoes really WERE fabulous. **drool**
And… SO ARE YOU! I’m so excited to have met you, and I absolutely can’t wait for Tuesday. Woot Woot!

Jane Iredale mineral cosmetics, they are mineral powders that actually help with blemishes and have an SPF of 20. Lovely, natural coverage. Have used for two years and my skin has improved, and I also love its dual powers.
