upping the ante

So! It’s November! I feel like I’m supposed to be doing something . . . hmm. I wonder what it is?

Oh! Riiiight. That.

I’ve been threatening you with thirty days of pictures of my shoes, in lieu of actual content, but this morning, when I was listening to Henry talking to himself in the bathroom (at FOUR THIRTY! AM! what the hell?) I decided that it would be more fun to INTENTIONALLY post pictures of my shoes, every day, for the next month. Not INSTEAD of actual content, but in ADDITION! Doesn’t that sound GREAT?

Friday Playdate: Now With Shoes!

1 November 2006
Berne Mev slip ons. With socks. Sheesh.

Of course, at 4:30 this morning I was still thinking that OF COURSE Henry would go back to bed and maybe even go back to SLEEP and I would be able to get up and have a shower and get myself dressed like a Real Person LONG before I needed to actually PHOTOGRAPH my shoes for the Internet.

Or not, as the case may be.

Oh, sure, Henry went back to bed, where he proceeded to talk to himself, and occasionally open and close his bedroom door (loudly) to see if anyone else was up yet, but there was no more sleeping. At 6:15, Wade’s alarm went off but HE was asleep and didn’t hear it. I turned the damn thing off and went to make coffee and lunches and Henry came out and asked if I wanted to play with superheros and five minutes later Charlie got up and asked if I would read to him and I stood in the middle of the kitchen and wondered how on earth I ended up here.

Charlie said to me, “When will you wake up?”

“I AM awake,” I told him.

“Oh,” he said. “But you’re not smiling.” No, I certainly wasn’t. Because FOUR THIRTY! Holy hell.

Charlie wound up crying during breakfast because he wanted to put his OWN syrup on his pancakes until I gave him the syrup and then he wanted ME to do it. Yesterday Henry cried for the exact same reason. I don’t know what the point of that is. I need a shower and some other socks, I think.

Welcome to November. Four thirty am. Good lord.

  1. Those are some funny shoes, but the color is YUMMY.

  2. Shoes?!! I love it!!

  3. And I thought it was bad when Monkey got up at 5, yesterday. (Of course, that ended with “MY EEEEAR HUUUUUUURTS!” last night, but still.)

My question is whether you have 30 days of DIFFERENT shoes. I would be very impressed by that.

  4. It’s 8:30 and I am still not awake. I really like the shoes. so, do you really wear them with socks? Is this the look? Help, I am fashion-less…

  5. Me also not awake. Though the kids slept until almost 6:30 today!

Mmm, shoes. Good plan. Also good excuse for shoe shopping around the 20th.

  6. When it’s super early in the morning like that, I tell Laylee I am asleep. She knows something’s not right but she just can’t put her finger on it.

  7. Ha ha! Shoes!

I’ve been up since way too early as well. Somewhere before 5:00. And seems like I’ve got a cold on top of the sleep deprivation. Yippee.

But I DID manage to get day one’s post up! So did you! Who cares if there are shoes in each post? We wouldn’t expect anything less.

  8. I must have done something right in my previous life, because I have sleepers. The kids were on an hour delay for school today and Sophie didn’t get out of bed until 9:20. Did you hear me? 9:20. Christopher was up at 7:45, but he knows better than to wake me up (of course, he’s nine. He’s had YEARS of me telling him - not so gently - that if he wakes me up again I just might snap).

I am so very sorry for 4:30. Really, very sorry.

  9. Oh I love the shoe idea, being a show whore myself. Though saying it that way makes it soud like something BAD.

  10. I cannot imagine having 30 pair of fab shoes to photograph, so I am in shoe envy right now. However, I could photograph 30 various beauty products and my reason for using them.

I’m back to blogging … September and October have been hell. Haven’t been blogging, haven’t been reading, just fretting about whether Child’s school will close, and how we will deal with the early teen Aspie years. Bleech

  11. I’m wondering if NaBloPoMo doens’t fall too closely on the heels of the time change for parents. I think it might.

  12. We had lots of crying this morning and I’m not sure why. It seems as if every time I enter the room, Ellie decides it is time to throw a huge fit.

I’m also at my wit’s end and it is just November 1st.

  13. And I thought 6:45 was bad! But I am looking forward to seeing 30 days of shoes. I don’t think I have 30 pairs of shoes. Clearly I am failing the female gender.

  14. I should clarfy: I don’t think I own thirty different pairs of shoes, but I will certainly wear SOME kind of shoes every day for the next month, and I will photograph them daily. You may see the same pair twice. Or three times! Or more!

But you will most likely NOT see the Berne Mev’s with socks again. Hopefully.

    If I’m lucky.

  15. Your shoes picture made me remember that I have lost one of my shoes. I tried looking for it under my bed in the dark this morning. That went brilliantly.

Must go blog about how drunk The Dom got last night and how she ended up sleeping in the bat cave last night…

  16. Hi, I like those shoes. I just read that you are in OK I am in Missouri. We were freezing last night for Halloween after having 70 degrees on Sun. Go figure!! I enjoy reading your posts. Jennifer

  17. Oy, I feel your pain. Mine were up EAR-LY on Sunday too. I hate daylight savings!

    PS. Nice shoes!

  18. Very cute shoes!

My daughter has decided that 5:30 am is a great time to start screaming like a banshee. For the 3 past three days. I have been waking up about halfway down the hall to her room, wondering who the hell is in there killing my baby. Because that is exactly what it sounds like.

I feel your pain with the 4:30.

  19. Well, that’s no fair; I don’t have enough shoes to post pictures of them every day, unless I do individual shoes, and even then, I’d still have to borrow some of the kidss shoes.

  20. I was up at 4:30 too! Tom came in to tell me that he had peed the bed, so I was changing sheets and convincing him that sleeping in my bed was a bad idea. I lost. But I was happy to lose–he’s a good snuggler.

Yeah, we’ll probably be hurting for blogging ideas by the 20th, but we signed up, and we must stick to it, right?

    *sigh*

  21. Very cute shoes!

This might help in the syrup department - I always put P’s syrup in a small bowl so that she can dip her pancake pieces or french toast into it. She gets to do it herself and it keeps everything from getting overwhelmingly soggy. It can get a little drippy that way but she loves it.

  22. Aw yeah. Thanks - you’ve inspired me to participate. We’ll see what happens. I have mutant kids who do not require sleep, and i feel your pain. Daylight savings also sucks. Meh. Need coffee. Love the shoe idea.

  23. […] of interest: the origins of NoBloShoeMo, and look! I was shopping for mascara last year at this time, too! I also feel compelled to say […]
