The Great Mascara Road Test goes on
My new sofa is here! And so is its cousin, the love seat. Let us all rejoice.
I want to lie down on it and NEVER GET UP. Too bad that’s not possible.
What does my sofa have to do with mascara? Nothing! But I just spent TWO HOURS writing a report that should have taken fifteen minutes and I’m still a little wigged out about it. Both the report AND the fact that it took so damn long to write.
If I get fired, I will have LOTS of time to lie on the new sofa. Although it will probably wind up getting repossessed because how will we pay for it?!?
Kidding. I’m kidding! About the repo part, but not the fired part.
Anyway. Mascara! I’ve been using Clinique High Impact mascara, of which I have two teeny free-with-purchase tubes that I never opened because I don’t like Clinique mascara. Or DO I???
So here we have the mascara on ONE EYE ONLY. Also only on the top lashes, because — I don’t know why. Why only on the top lashes? To prevent smudging? Because if that’s it, it’s not working.
I’m mostly liking this mascara, because it makes my lashes look long and thick (which is what it is advertised to do, so yay Clinique) but it is most definitely NOT waterproof, which is a deal breaker.
Clinique also makes a waterproof mascara that appears to have essentially the same big fluffy brush, but it does not purport to lengthen or thicken. And now I am wondering if LENGTHENING/THICKENING and WATERPROOF are mutually exclusive terms. Can I have long, thick, waterproof lashes? Or do I have to choose?
And if I have to choose, which do I go with? Is there a THICK AND WATERPROOF option? Or is that not possible? Because I am all about the thickness, you all. But I don’t want my long thick lashes smearing all over my face.
God this is so HARD. I think I’ll go lie on the new sofa for a while and rest.
(Psst: Today’s shoes are over here.)

You should consider VolumeEXACT… umm… I don’t know who it is by. (You get it at any walmart or CVS) But they have water proof and I accidentally bought the waterproof and my lashes never looked longer or thicker than when I wore it for that one month of my life.
My only issue is that I felt like all my lashes were going to fall out from never actually getting ALL of it off. I’m not a fan of the waterproof.
But I guess you are! So you might like it!

I LOVE that the sofa has only one bottom cushion. Am now slightly green.

I’m starting to fully understand your dilemma. I just bought Benefit Bad Gal Lash recently which I LOVE. The Brush! The Length! The Fullness! All wonderful…at 8 am. But by 4 pm,it is all over my face and I have a mascara shiner. I Hate this. I’m watching intently hoping you find (me) a solution…haha

so what if you were to try that clear mascara to help lengthen and extend and thicken. and then black waterproof on top of that for color and the waterproofness? perhaps that would combat the smudging.

i will not put mascara on the bottom lashes. AT ALL…. it keeps it from smudging
the only time i have had mascara all over my face was graduation day, when i was crying because it was all over, and it was all going to be different..
and i was in the front seat of my boyfriends car feeling silly and he was telling me it was all okay, it was all new but okay..
and then i wiped the mascara off of my face and hugged him.

I totally want a new couch now. I’m the receiver of my mom’s hand-me-down furniture.
I hate mascara. Can’t get it on my lashes right and surely can’t get it to stay there…….

You are a really hard core waterproof mascara fan!
In the vein of trying something inexpensive, and in lieu of trying the massive list of expensive mascaras I love and left on a previous post, I used to use L’oreal Voluminous, which comes in waterproof.

I’m wondering if your smudging problem isn’t more an issue with your concealer than the mascara. I refuse to wear waterproof mascara, but the only time I’ve had smudging is while wearing liquid or stick concealer. Now I wear powder concealer and drugstore, non-waterproof mascara, and I’ve never had a smudge problem.
