the cabinet at the end of the tunnel

dishes

What I did today:

bought $125.00 worth of cleaning supplies, including a special cloth to mop the hardwood floors

spent two hours meticulously arranging the dishes in the cabinets

scraped paint off the hardwood floors

mopped the kitchen floor with the new cloth (which rocks, by the way)

mopped the hallway

washed all the crystal

carefully arranged the crystal in its own cabinet

mopped the kitchen floor AGAIN

rearranged the pantry

cleaned out the cabinet in the master bath

artfully arranged some beautiful towels we never use because they don’t absorb water in the cabinet in the master bath

cleaned out the linen closet, which is full of boxes of stuff that have nothing to do with linens

put the printer away in the linen closet to make the desk look less cluttered

made an offer on a house

  3. Whoa! That is productive. And what an orderly cabinet! :)

  4. WOWIE! big weekend. we have had our house on the market 3 days now and I’m totally stressed beyond belief! best of luck to you… i really wish we could have a martini together and complain about the paint under our nails.

  5. I’ve been away too long—I was reading and thought, “Is she selling the house?!” You inspire me!

  6. So tell us about the house already!

  7. Congrats! Good luck! And your cabinets look amazing. Mine never looked that nice, even when we were selling.

  8. Congrats on making an offer. Can’t wait to read what happens.

  9. Congrats! Good luck - I hope you offer is accepted. Oh, and we bought that floor cloth too. Haven’t used it yet - glad to hear it’s so great! :)

  10. Ooooh! Good luck on getting the new house!

  11. Hope you get the house! That is SO exciting!

And speaking of exciting, that artfullyarranged cabinet is magnificent. Isn’t it amazing how much storage your house looks like it has when you are storing less?

  12. Wow… are you for hire?

  13. Try not to do as much today, or you’ll make us all look horribly lazy.

    I mean, you’ll overwork yourself! That’s what I meant.

  14. Good luck with the offer, your cabinet full of pottery is beautiful, and why oh why are there towels in the world that don’t absorb water? Do you think they were Scotchguarded?

  15. oooh - I want to come to your open house for the MnMs! ;)

it looks gorgeous - definitely worth the work!

what about the house you put in an offer on??? tell us more! tease

  16. About that paint on the hard wood floors. I have two words for you: Denatured alcohol. Works like a charm, with a little rubbing, takes the paint right off. No scraping required.
Congrats, I hope your offer is accepted.

  17. I would totally buy a house with cupboards that organized. And m&ms.

  18. YAY!

    Details!

  19. What is the name of the floor cloths? We’ve lived in a house with hardwood floors for 5 years and I’m STILL trying to figure out how I’m supposed to clean them. Although with a 2 & 4 year old what’s the point??

  20. Criz, the floor cloth is made by Method; I got mine at Target. Click the link in the post.

I really like it. And if it can clean up after the messy messy painters, it can certainly take on your kids.

  21. AND?!!

  22. Dude. We need house details stat!

  23. Wow! Your house looks nice! Doesn’t it make you want to stay?

  24. I loooooooooove the updates. Submit them to HGTV you’re bound to win a prize. :)

Best of luck with the housing adventure.
