I haven’t read or commented in a while, but my wife pointed me to this post. She thought I could give the preppy male perspective on socks. Except with suits and formal wear, I rarely wear socks–even though we live in New England and the mornings are near 30 degrees already. This means that unless I’m treading through snow, I’m sockless. My not wearing socks even came up in a job review once–by a boss who I’m sure would wear socks with sandals.

Kelly, I’ll make you deal: keep your trouser socks (it pains me to say that, I’ll have you know) BUT only if they are the right color for your shoes and pants.

And for god’s sake DO NOT wear them with a skirt.

I am so impressed…..I just found you and came her and a wholepost about socks! Sock Etiquette no less. Marvellous. You would hate my husband though, wears socks always, with sandals the works, white ones too. I am just so impressed that there was whole post about socks, I have to go and read more because I know somewhere here I will find the way to get my 17 year old to keep her bottom covered, please tell me yu have that here somewhere! Helen.

But! I love my trouser socks! They don’t fall down! And pool around my ankle! Those normal socks — they don’t stay on!

Harumph. I embrace my frumpy, circulation-stopping socks.
