We took the kids bowling today, which involved wearing shoes that did not belong to us; a little part of my soul died when I put them on because OMG gross. But I made up for it by bowling a 120 and kicking everyone’s ass, including my husband, who actually bowled in a league in fourth grade.
I rock.
The other day, Henry was asking what “dumb luck” was, and I was having a really hard time explaining because in his vernacular “dumb” is a bad word, but of course in THIS case it wasn’t and he was getting all frustrated with me. Then again, what else is new.
Today at the bowling alley, I put on my rented shoes (eeew) and happily announced that it had been OVER TWENTY YEARS since I went bowling. And then I bowled two strikes in a row. Two frames later, I bowled ANOTHER strike.
I looked at Henry and said, “Son, THAT is dumb luck.”
Virtually every single time I rolled the ball (is there a technical term for that?) it bounced off the bumper, which was exactly the proof that Wade needed that I really do suck at bowling. But I still beat him, so ha ha ha.
I may have said that a couple of times. You know, because I am a GOOD SPORT like that. Too bad we didn’t have beer! Next time.

You are invited to join my bowling league, Dolls with Balls. We bowl Wednesdays beginning in May. There are drinks, music videos and everyone gets their own balll. What are the chances you could be in Portland, Oregon every Wednesday night starting in May?

Beer definitely makes bowling better.
Are those your cute shoes in the picture? I would be sad if I had to take those off, too.
I bowled in my league today. Unfortunately for me, you would have beat me, too.

Bowling’s fun. I keep meaning to take my kids… Another day… maybe.

Bowling with kids is the BEST, if only because of the bumper thingies that completely eliminate the gutter ball.
I would not have bowled so well without them. My ball would have been in the gutter almost every single time.
Just like Eliot Spitzer! Oh, I couldn’t resist. Come on.

Oooh… I am laughing about the Eliot Spitzer line! I’m glad you didn’t resist!
I am taking notes on what to do with my kids on their spring break. But every time we go bowling, the 4 year old wins. And he is a good sport about it like you, ha! I definitely need beer by the end of THAT day.

My favorite part of that picture are the cute pink flats up in the corner…I think I would have just bowled in those!

Awww… we recently went bowling with one of my friends, her fiance, and her soon to be stepson. It was fabulous. We not only had bumpers, but the option to use a ramp so we could be lazy. Every strike I rolled? Totally granny styled it.

Bumper bowling was the only kind of bowling I was ever good at. Probably karmic retribution for laughing at my little sister when she fell multiple times while trying to bowl.
