snow day, the sequal
I’ve realized that it is misleading to call these “snow” days, since there ISN’T ANY snow, only ice, or now big puddles with branches (or entire trees) laying in them. But in the school accounting, they are snow days, and my children have had TWO so far this week.
We spent today’s snow day eating brunch out and playing 54 holes of mini-golf, at the indoor place at the mall, the one with the black lights. I do not have anything else to say about that, except that when the kids go to claim the FREE rounds of golf that they WON today, Wade will be taking them because I am NOT going back there. Ever.
And now it is after 10:30 and I am WAITING to see what tomorrow will bring. The public schools are closed, but there is no word on my children’s Catholic school, although I am not optimistic. There’s no way those kids are going to school tomorrow, is there? No there isn’t.

Oh I’m counting on the GirlChild going to school tomorrow. If they’ve not announced it in time for the 10:00 pm news, then they’ll find her on their steps in the morning. Now the BoyChild’s school announced they would be closed at the 6:00 pm news. So. Another day of stir crazy for the Hubs and the BoyChild.

Oh, I’m so sorry.
Snow days take on a whole new meaning when you’re a parent.

I would actually welcome one right now-I need a day that doesn’t actually require me to go to the school 4 times. But alas, I live where hell would have to freeze for it to snow…

At one point today I was worried that you might be without power, but THANK GOODNESS you put a twitter out there. =) Hopefully, the weather will improve soon.

Whaaa? Our Superintendent was from Hawaii and said that a snow day wouldn’t be called unless it reached the top of his front door. Our school system *never* closed for snow days - we had a frickin’ ice storm and we had school. However, the year after that guy left and we had *four* snow days [after years of not having any and, why yes, I did trudge barefoot thru the snow uphill both ways when my foot slipped out of the boot, why do you ask?] and my graduating class had to make up for the missed day. With an extra class of Health for the year. Yeah, that was fun - not!

I’m just glad to see that you still have power. Everytime I hear about something bad happening in Oklahoma (no matter where in the state) my first thought is, I hope that Susan is OK!

Last year the kids were out of school for a week because of the ice.
I cried.
And sent them to Grandma’s.

I’m confused. You can get to the mall, but there is no school??? Clearly I have missed something along the way. Because in my world, if one can get to the mall than certainly one can get to school…
