ready or not

The boys were jumping off the furniture in my parents’ house today, so my mother and I took them to the park to play Hide and Seek in the wilderness. Henry loves hide and seek because he is all about outsmarting me. And he’s good at it; the last time he hid, we could NOT find him. I was terrified and proud, all at the same time. Welcome to parenthood!

Charlie, on the other hand, sucks at hide and seek. He hides in the same place every time (today it was in a tree) and then when you announce “READY OR NOT, HERE I COME!” he yells, “I’m over HERE! Come and FIND ME!” If you pretend not to know where he is, he will give you directions. He is INCREDIBLY excited when he’s found, and will cheer, “You found me! You found me! Hooray!” And then he says, “Let’s go get Henry!”

Because all he REALLY wants to do is find Henry.

  2. Very few things make me excited about Jack growing out of being a baby.
Your stories are among them :)

  3. great pictures!!

  4. How COOL!!!

  5. I’m sorry, but “I’m over here, come find me” just made me laugh out loud.

  6. Wow, cool effect on the pictures.

Hurray for hide and seek! As a kid, I always wanted to be it.

  7. Charlie and Littleman would have a very short time of it with hide and seek, because Littleman also likes to announce his whereabouts! Your boys are adorable with glasses- I hope Littleman has to wear them, he told me he thinks they make him look smarter!

  8. Yeah. I have a “Charlie”. “I’m hiding in the KITCH-ennnnnnn!” It is hard to look surprised after 32 rounds of … ’seeking’. Next time he does it, i’m going to pretend i can’t find my way to the kitchen and crawling into a nice bath instead.

  9. Ahem. And *I’M* crawling into a nice bath instead.

    Good lord, where’s my coffee…

  10. Love the pictures! Did you write something too?

Look how cute Charlie is in his little glasses!

    When are you coming home?

  11. That thing is so great! You mean I’d have to go all the way to Albuqueruqueueaqqqe (I can NEVER get my fingers to cooperate when it comes to that word) to get great pics like that of MY kids?

    I WANT some!

Couldn’t be any hotter in Albwhatever than it is here, either - today it’s 35, 48 with the humidex (95 and 118). I’m breaking out into a sweat just breathing. Good thing I can barely breathe, huh???

  12. Those are the coolest pictures I’ve ever seen!

  13. Those pictures are soooooo great! I love all your stories!

  14. Bwahaha!!! Quinn and Charlie playing hide and seek would be a riot - Quinn does the same thing, stands there and yells for us to come get him. What gives?!
