is it cold in here or is it just wishful thinking?
Remember when I decided that I wanted the purple pea coat? And you all were torn between thinking that it was fabulous and worrying that the purple would be limiting? And then remember how I bought it anyway and it turns out that it’s PERFECT with all my clothes? And totally fabulous? REMEMBER THAT?!?
Right.
So the purple pea coat does have two drawbacks — it’s very casual, so I can’t wear it with a dress, and it doesn’t go with the orange pieces in my closet. So I think I need another coat!
This one, in fact. From J. Crew, of course.

And yes, I want it in that wild pink, because OMG how perfect is that? Or it WOULD be perfect if it were maybe a little more on sale, J. CREW CAN YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT PLEASE?!?
I know that the conventional line is that you should invest in a winter coat in a neutral shade, but honestly, I’m tired of neutrals; most of my closet can be categorized as Looks Good With Purple, or Looks Good With Bright Pink (I think those are Rachel Zoe’s categories, in case you’re wondering). Roxanna has convinced me that if you’re going to wear the coat for the entire winter, it might as well be beautiful.
She is SUCH a bad influence.
So I keep hearing that we’re going to have a terrible winter, and even though it’s supposed to be nearly 70 (!!!) here tomorrow, I’m counting on the cold weather rolling in VERY VERY SOON. And of COURSE I will need to get dressed up! and go out! in the cold! And how CUTE would that coat be?!?
(And no I haven’t done any Christmas shopping for anyone else yet — why do you ask?)

Did you get the 25% off card in the mail? Because if you did, YOU HAVE TO GET THE COAT!
Susan says: I DID get that! But the coat is not available in the store here, so I’m not sure it helps. Plus I’m thinking that it HAS to be reduced even more soon, right? RIGHT???

You should have it because
a)It is cute. (with orange!)
b) It helps the economy.
I can justify anything.

That is a great coat…..and I especially like the cut and the length. I need one that length for slightly dressier occassions.
I bet your husband thinks we’re all a bad influence!

I have this coat! Now, before you get all jealous, mine is white. I KNOW!! So practical with three kids under 7!!! But in terms of quality, girlfriend, this coat rocks. I love it.

You know what? I say buy the coat because really, if you decide it doesn’t work for you, you can just mail it to me and I’ll deal with it. ‘Cause I’m nice like that.

1)Love that pink coat!
2) Wearing purple and orange together is bad? Really?

My peacoat is beautiful orange. Oh, I love it. I’m convinced that orange is a neutral. I wear orange shoes as if they’re brown.

That coat is so gorgeous. I keep drooling over it when I go into J. Crew. Get it! Stimulate the economy!

I’m in love with bright coats!
This season, I bought three: one in a similar pink (yes — you need it!), yellow and teal. Unfortunately, they are all a bit too light for our current temperatures.
I hope they drop the prices a bit more

JCrew sale items are an extra 30% off. Susan - did you do that? I hope you got it!!!
December 3rd, 2008 at 11:14 pm, Gina Says:
When I said “did you do that”, you asked JCrew to mark it down more…

You are hilarious. You should really just move to Minnesota. It’s 15 degrees here right now.
There is a fellow preschool mom at my daughter’s school who comes to pick-up and drop-off in a bright pink wool coat, much like that one except shorter. It looks totally fab with her long blonde hair. She just glows!

Life is too short for neutrals, unless they’re just really what you like. Go for the pink. If I could afford pretty things, I’d buy it!

Neutrals are overrated. Go bold girl!!!
