I hate tornadoes. I grew up in a very active tornado area and they freaked me the heck out. Now I live in the Mid-Atlantic. We get hurricanes that we can prepare for. But we occassionally get tornadoes, and high winds freak me out. Our fire stations are volunteer, and they sound the alarm every time there’s a fire. They went off this weekend, and it was windy, so I went searching for any tornado warnings. There weren’t any, but I still kept looking out at the sky. I know…but it is what it is.

What a strange and amazing country we all share. While you hide from violent tornadoes I weep quietly watching yet another three inches of snow accumulate on the f-ing driveway. Such geography, such weather. I’ve heard Hawaii is nice, tornado and snow free. But I guess they’ve got the occasional volcano to think about.

I grew up in San Francisco–was there during the 89 earthquake. But nothing–NOTHING!–scares me more than tornadoes.
