I’m blaming this randomness on my jaw
My dad is here for the weekend, because you know it’s been four whole days since I went to the airport or made up the bed in the guest room, so clearly it’s time for more company and maybe some travel, too.
Have I mentioned that we’re going to Tulsa tomorrow night? For the PGA tournament? As I write this we’re watching today’s recap, which seems mostly to consist of golfers saying, “OH MY GOD is it ever HOT here” or some variant of that.
Which is mostly what I’ve been saying all day, too.
So tomorrow morning we have Meet Your Teacher day at the boys’ school (one school! for both boys! I still can’t get over it) and we will be dragging my dad with us because apparently house guests around here are REQUIRED to participate in some sort of back-to-school ritual. Also there is always a possibility that one or the other of my kids will not be With the Program and will need extra adult supervision, and god knows I’m tired of providing that.
Come stay with me and I will put you to work.
As soon as my dad walked through the door today, Henry was begging to play on his laptop and Charlie was insisting that he play with Playmobil. And of course I grabbed my car keys and said, “Okay! Going to the beer store! Be back soon! Maybe!”
I need a vacation, but I’ll take a trip to the liquor store instead.
So I’m going to Tulsa tomorrow; for those of you keeping score at home, this is the third consecutive weekend that Wade will be completely in charge of the kids. And yes, he probably needs a vacation, too, but I like to think that’s what his job is for. Pretty much they pay him to NOT be with our kids.
Maybe I need a job.
Before we go to Meet Your Teacher Day (speaking of jobs–how smooth is this?) I have contractual obligations to fulfill, over here and over here. And laundry to finish, and I guess I need to pack. I wonder if I can get my dad to do any of that for me?
Probably not the writing. Or the packing. Which only leaves the laundry.

be sure to remember your hat with a fan/mister for such event because, i just KNOW you own one of these contraptions.
and yes, while his work is stressful, i do believe he can spend moments in his chair daydreaming about what he’ll have for lunch or what next big stereo equipment he’s wanting to purchase without someone screaming in the backgroud, “more scooby-doo! or he won’t quit hitting me!”

Sometimes I envy my husband as he walks out the door…..a whole day at his work vacation. Nice.

I work (away from home) part time, and whenever my SAHM friends get all, “I don’t know HOW you do it all!” I get to pretend that it’s HARD dropping the kids off and spending a few kid-free hours on the computer.

School will be here before you know it and you’ll be able to get more of a break during the day. Hope you enjoy your trip to Tulsa!

I am having such a hard time focusing today. It’s just bad. Isn’t it the weekend yet? Would anybody notice if I had a beer now?
Have fun watching golf. Hahahahahahahahaha.

If your dad does laundry, I’ll be impressed. Really impressed.
How can you watch golf? I mean HOW? It is like watching … nothing with a lot of very soft whisper-speak in between.

If I had known, I would have rented you my empty house. Hope you had as much fun as you can have in the sweltering Hades heat.
