home again, home again, jiggety jig
I feel like I have been traveling for months; I’ve never been so happy to see the inside of my closet because it means that I will not have to get dressed out of a suitcase for one more day.
We spent Thanksgiving in Houston with my sister-in-law and her family, and we had a huge time. Henry and Charlie are currently mad that NONE of their cousins live close to them and they want to know why we can’t just take a road trip every weekend to visit family. The answer, of course, is because it would kill me.
Highlights of Thanksgiving included our two-year-old nephew deciding that Wade was the best thing since sliced bread and wrapping himself insistently around Wade’s legs for the entire weekend, my sister-in-law’s use of the phrase “ne’er do well white trash cousins” in a story about Lyle Lovette and Julia Robert’s wedding and the word “buggative” to describe someone who was pestering her, and an evening out with SJ and Karen.
We drank these.
And did some of this.
Last night, my niece had a meltdown because she didn’t want Henry and Charlie to go home; I can understand how she felt. And while I am thankful to be getting in my own bed tonight, I miss all those wonderful people in Houston.
I think I will have to go back soon.

Suitcase living does kind of suck, but it’s almost always worth it. Short term.

Having just lived out of a suitcase, know the “welcome the closet” feeling.
Glad all y’all had a great time.

I recently went to Houston too to visit lovely people. And IKEA! Mostly the lovely people. But a fair amount of IKEA coveting was happening the weeks before the trip.

I was totally in Houston for Thanksgiving. Had I know there was a party, I would have totally crashed. So glad you are home and had a great time. Next time, let me know. I still owe SJ a drink.
