hear no evil (or anything else)

During the course of a day, I find myself saying a variety of Things Henry Would Rather Not Hear (for example, ‘Use your walking feet!’ and ‘I think that’s an outside game’ and ‘Let’s NOT play superheros right now’). So he does this:

I can’t wait until he’s a teenager.

  1. Hey…at least for now it’s a silent protest!

  2. At least you’re not getting the “angry face” that Christopher has been giving me every single freaking time I say something he doesn’t like.

Clenched fists, clenched teeth, furrowed brows, icy glare.

    Yeah, it’s lovely.

And I told him last night if he does it again, he’s grounded for two weeks.

  3. “Use your walking feet” is a new one to me! My fifteen month old - who’s not walking much yet - is going to hear that one tomorrow.

  4. Oh, wait til you see on Blogging Baby tomorrow what Tommy’s latest is. I swear to god, that kid is going to give me a full head of white hairs by the end of the month.

  5. Urgh. I’d be homicidal. Great picture, though!

  6. H is beyond his years. He already looks like a teenager.

  7. When they’re teens, they look right at you, but you just know from the glazed look that absolutely nothing you say is going in. Then you see the wires dangling from their ears.

Our rule is that headphones can only cover one ear when in the house. I should get you a picture of that!

  8. Mary, sometimes I will start to talk to Wade and THEN realize that he has his iPod on. Same glazed look. And he’s 40.

    I think I need a vacation.

  9. Speaking of iPods: Did you know that you can get this great little gizmo to attach your iPod into the cigarette lighter in your car, and the music will come through your car’s stereo, on the FM signals? How cool is that??

(Partner has the iPod, son has an “archos”. Same thing…) Just got back from a wedding, three hours of driving all told, and great music every second of the way. Lots of singing, too. (Just we two adults.) Fun, fun, fun.

  10. I *do* know about that deal for the car–I may get Wade one for Christmas (I have satellite radio in my car). He wants the docking station for the house, but since he loads ONLY classical music on the iPod, I’m not too into that. I needs me some good dance music.
