Catholic school has changed a LOT since I was a kid

In the car on the way home from soccer practice last night.

Henry: Jesus is the light.

Charlie: I did NOT know that.

Henry: I just learned that yesterday. From Mrs. Pierce.

Charlie: Who is Mrs. Pierce?

Henry: She teaches genuflection.

  1. Oh they are too funny.

  2. Our Catholic schools latest is “are you being the light?” As in WWJD? When they are misbehaving. So Miss 9, who can be quite confusing at times, runs around the house yelling, “I am the light, I am the light!”

  3. Teaching genuflection … better than the kid who asked, “When do I do the bow with the funny arm movements?” and then proceeded to go into a karate stance because he’d remembered do do a bow, but forgot what came afterwards. :-) [no, not mine!]

  4. That’s hilarious! You know Jack goes to a jewish preschool (even though we are methodist) and last week he insisted we celebrate Rosh Hashanna. He even recited a hebrew blessing as we ate our apples and marshmallows. Should have been honey and apples but since Jack doesn’t like honey he picked another sweet.

  5. Hmm…not getting my money’s worth here. We do not have a genuflection instructor.

  6. My kids are really missing out. And to think they could be learning about Jesus and the light and are instead coping with the Dragon Lady

  7. I didn’t go to a Catholic school, but I love this! It’s hilarious.

  8. So, umm, is something wrong with Friday Style or is it me? All I can see is the intro to one post, and no answer…

    And I need a pretty-clothes fix!

  9. Never mind, it’s just a broken link. My bad.

  10. Too FUNNY! Thanks for sharing such a cute story :-)

  11. Although it seems I’ve been under a rock, I just found your site recently (tonight) (through the “What Did You Wear to Work” flickr stream) and am catching up, so to speak.

    Cute conversation!

    (Also, adorable wardrobe, too.)

  12. Love your post. I think I went to the same school as your children. Married three step children who live with us full time. I totally get a KICJ out of all your stories. We have 1 boy who plays competitive soccer and it totally we

  13. wears me out. we have to travel two weekends a month. I work close to Saturn Grill its a 4 diamond restaurant in the same plaza. Come see me see some time. My sister goes to the same pool as you, you might know them, her kids talk like sailors. Really enjoy your post.

  14. Pssst…just thought you might want to know, Mother Talk posted their intro to the reviews of “The Splendor of Silence”, and they still have your blogspot address in your link. Just so you know :)

  15. what’s with all the “light” teachings?

our school is all about letting your light shine.

hearing this phrase always makes me break out into a neil diamond song.
