I’m with you on hiring a babysitter. Twice while on vacation with my in-laws we were able to leave the kids behind. As a result, we have resolved to get a babysitter and get out together (hopefully once a month).

Knit. No, I’m serious; it counteracts the drinking. According to my physician friend, drinking destroys brain cells. But activities–such as knitting–help your brain. I’m not sure if they actually increase the number of brain cells but it keeps the ones there working (instead of playing school, Polly Pocket, or Thomas the Tank Engine or drawing pigs, which is what I’m doing right now). Scarves are so incredibly easy anybody (even me) can do them.

I agree that quiting the drink is not an option. My resolutions? Same as always…be a better mom, be a better daughter, exercise, learn to say NO to things like PTA and the scouts.
