be true to your (graduate) school
Particularly when they’re this close to BOTH a national championship AND a Heisman trophy.
Yes, that’s the front of our house and yes, that’s our Ohio State flag. Wade’s dad called yesterday morning to ask what time the game was, and when I said, “I have no idea,” he said, “I’ll bet you don’t even have your flag up!”
Challenge accepted!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the Heisman trophy pose! (Sort of.)
Actual Game Day Conversation, following touchdown run by Anthony Gonzalez
Wade: You can see him saying, “I love you, Mom.”
Me: If one of our kids ever scores a touchdown in a game like this, he damn well better say I LOVE YOU MOM to those TV cameras.
Wade: Heh.
Me: And not say a swear word.
Wade: Heh heh.
Me: Charlie would say it, don’t you think? Henry probably not.
Wade: No, Henry would do his superhero pose.
Me: Heh.
Wade: Actually, it looks kind of like the Heisman pose. We could work with him on that.
Me: Good idea! And then remind him to say I LOVE YOU MOM.

Feet up, recovering from the Big Game.

I so hear you. My frontyard it littered with WVU paraphernelia. At the beginning of the season I was pulling for Slaton for the Heisman but alas, those dreams have all but been shattered.
Cute photo! Off to work on the Gavinator’s Heisman pose (hopefully it will come in handy next year).

Susan, you have to try these!!
Snowy Cosmo’s
1 1/3 oz citrus vodka
1/4 oz triple sec
1/4 oz white cranberry juice
1/4 oz lime juice
Fill shaker with ice, add all ingredients, shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with what ever suits you. I used red cranberries. Very yummy.

It always makes me cry when grown up boys love their mamas and thank them publicly. All those sleepless nights were not in vain!

I used to live down the street from OSU. I still miss Pokey Sticks. But nothing else about Columbus.

Damn, all my grad school does is ask me for money.

My team is also THIS close to a NC and a Heisman but will unfortunately miss it by a hair because of your team. *sigh*. I’d hold this against you if you didn’t have such great shoes.
Go Hogs, anyway.

GO OSU!!! Even when they’re not number 1, anytime they can beat Michigan rules.
November 20th, 2006 at 12:49 pm, Valbee Says:
It was a GREAT game. Now we just have to wait and see if there will be a rematch for the national championship. My personal preference is that they play USC, because as my son puts it, “OSU is number one. Michigan is still number two. They shouldn’t have to play Michigan again - they’ve already beat them.” Still, it would be fun to have all those OSU-Michigan parties twice in one year!

Love those square toes! I have a super high instep and have a hard time finding shoes that will accommodate the one part of my body which is bony and protruding. Ah well.
Too funny about the Heisman / Superhero thing.

Valbee, you’re so damn funny.
Let’s all sing Carmen Ohio now, shall we? Or even better, Hang on Sloopy!
Go Bucks.

OK, Susan. At this point, I feel I can safely say that someday, I dunno where or when, but someday, I will be able to meet you IRL and buy you a drink, and then…then I will relate the story of the New Year’s Blast that wasn’t, and how the phrase, “OHIO??? I LOVE THE HAWKEYES!” and how my failure to bring I.D. ruined the celebration for many, many people. Or maybe I won’t, and then you might be grateful and like me even more…!
November 20th, 2006 at 8:02 pm, Susan Says:
Velma, I totally want to hear that story. Please?
I’ll buy the drinks. Or maybe I’ll just whip up some Snowy Cosmos!
