$75.00 worth of copays later, it’s time to go on vacation!
So remember on Tuesday when I said I had caught a cold from the boys? And my throat hurt? Well it turns out it’s NOT a cold–I have strep throat! You heard me. I haven’t been able to swallow for two days, and every imaginable part of my body aches. My SKIN even hurts.
The upside is that I haven’t had any coffee in two days, and I don’t seem to be missing it. After all, I feel so crappy from the strep infection, what’s a little caffeeine withdrawal? Right?
Oh, but that’s not all. After I hauled my sick self to the Urgent Care center this morning, I took the boys to the pediatrician, because they both have IMPETIGO. Look it up yourself–I’m too sick to link to anything. You’re lucky I’m even able to type at all. (It’s a staph infection of the skin. Very contagious but painless.)
Fortunately, the antibiotic that the little buddy doctor (as Henry always called her) put my buddies on will also keep them from getting strep. Unfortunately, all THREE of us are taking antibiotics that have a, shall we say, unpleasant effect on the tummy.
Oh, hey, and did I mention that on SATURDAY we’re driving to Albuquerque? TEN HOURS in the car?
Oh dear god I think I have to go lay down now . . .

Oh crap! Well, at least you all have something that can be treated. I always hate the “it’s a virus, thanks for wasting your co-pay to come and chat with me today” diagnosis.
Oh man, you sure you have to leave on Saturday? That’s a lot of bathroom breaks on the way.

Oh, man, impetigo is not pretty.
My son had it once on his face, and my evil sister-in-law (we were visiting, from out-of-state) 1.wouldn’t allow him to sleep in any of the beds, 2.only let him sit on one square of the couch, and 3.wouldn’t allow him to play with any of her childrens’ toys. He was four.
Yeah, I won’t be going back to her house any time soon.
And I gave him my bed (and I didn’t get the impetigo).

Ugh–I had impetigo on my eye in college. I worked in a restaurant, so that was pretty gross. I remember my parents making me eat with plasticware and not coming near me. Nice!
Hope you’re feeling better soon. Being sick in the summer is the worst.

Thanks, girls–we are all feeling MUCH better today (although now I am faced with the MOUNTAINS of laundry that haven’t been done this week, plus all the illness-related HazMat laundry).
And, in a completely unexpected twist, BOTH my children are LOVING the Augmentin! Henry keeps announcing, ‘It tastes delicious!’ and Charlie thinks he’s the bees knees because he gets to take his from a SYRINGE! How cool!
Whatever. At least they’re taking the drugs. And I will still be going on my vacation. I think.
